But it’s not as simple as strolling into a telco store.
You’ll have to show some velocity yourself and search the city for HTC Velocity T-shirt wearers who are at secret location in Sydney CBD from 12pm today.
“HTC are giving you the opportunity to buy an HTC Velocity 4G for just $4 – but only if you are the first and fastest to find our HTC person hiding somewhere in the city,” the smartphone giant announced on Twitter yesterday.

HTC have been at this caper throughout Australia this week and are hitting Melbourne, Newcastle, Gosford, Adelaide and Perth in the coming week and made a Velocity assault on Brisbane on Monday.
Once you find the HTC reps just pop them your $4 and you can walk away with the first 4G phone ever to hit Australia, which can only be bought Telstra Freedom Connect Plan, costing you $59 -$129 a month.
The 4.5″ HTC Velocity on Android 2.3 features a touch screen, potent 1.5 GHz dual core processor for fast multi-tasking and an 8MP camera and will run on Telstra’s 4G LTE-enabled network – the first live 4G network in Oz.
The Velocity 4G goes “up to” five times faster on the web than current 3G phones.
“The first and fastest person to find the street team member and hand over four gold coins ($1 or $2 coins) can purchase an HTC Velocity 4G smartphone right there on the spot. Don’t forget to have your $1 or $2 dollar coins ready to go!” say HTC.
The HTC street team member will be heading to seven CBD locations after 12pm today only so be quick.
