Motorola has taken the wraps off its 2nd generation Moto 360 smartwatch, encompassing two new sizes, along with the Moto 360 Sport, which are set to make their way to the Australian market.Competition is heating up in the smartwatch market, which has been on steep growth curve in 2015, and Motorola will be looking to make further inroads with its latest Android Wear-powered offerings.
The 2nd gen Moto 360, which sports the same classic round-face design as its predecessor, will come in two sizes, with men able to choose from 42 mm and 46 mm case sizes, while the women’s 42 mm case is designed for smaller wrists.
As far as the watch face is concerned, Motorola states a thin bezel maximises the viewing area, with the Moto 360 sporting the “largest screen-to-case ratio of any smartwatch today”.

Available among a variety of watch faces, Motorola’s new customisable Live Dials is designed to provide information at a glance, for instance battery level, weather updates or fitness stats.
The Moto 360 Sport, meanwhile, features onboard GPS to track speed, distance and pace, with Motorola stating its AnyLight hybrid display provides for clear viewing of information, even in bright sunlight. Powered by Android Wear, users can still use the Moto 360 Sport to check email, send texts or use apps.
The Moto 360 runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, an Adreno 305 with 450 MHz GPU, and comes with 4 GB internal storage plus 512 MB RAM.
The men’s and women’s 42 mm models sport a 300 mAh battery, which Motorola states can provide up to 1.5 days of mixed use, while the 46 mm model sports a 400 mAh battery, capable of providing up to two days of mixed use, with a wireless charging dock included.
Available in the US starting in late September, Motorola states pricing will vary by design and range, with US pricing to range from US$299.99 to US$429.99.
