iiNet Invades: Darwin, QLD Next

Look Out NT! iiNet are coming to a home near you.

The Perth based ISP looks set for Aussie-wide domination as it seeks to add more than 23,500 new users to its list in regional Darwin.

And that not to mention the 15,000 more Michael Malone’s telco has on its hit list in regional Queensland, making it almost 40K new users in total.

iiNet latest regional invasion into Queensland’s Dalby, Emerald and Mount Isa, while its Darwin exchange will also to receive major network upgrades in areas of Casuarina, Nightcliff and Palmerston, comes in the wake of its recent acquisition – former rival Internode for $105m.

The network upgrades, the first on faster speed ADSL2+ broadband, are part of the Government’s Regional Backbone Blackspots Program.

iiNet chief, Michael Malone, said his company was committed to bringing more competitive pricing and service to more areas around Australia.

“While we’re looking forward to the NBN rolling out around the country, it will take time so we’re making sure more households and businesses can enjoy the benefits of superfast broadband in the meantime,” Malone said.

“These network expansion plans, cement our position of having the largest competitive ADSL broadband network in the country.”

Users can bundle iiNet’s broadband plans with Netphone service, for cheaper phone calls, fast Internet, access tosubscription television service, fetchtv, plus “awesome” customer service, the telco said yesterday.

The telco already has over 1.3 million users of its  broadband, telephony and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) services.
