At the weekend Nokia announced that it’s switching to Windows Phone 7 as its primary smartphone platform in a move that has left Intel “furious” according to sources.
Originally, Intel were of the impression that they were working with Nokia on the development of their MeeGo open source OS which was due to launched in 2012.
Co-developed with Intel, MeeGo has apparently been put on ice as Nokia cuddles up to their new best buddy Microsoft.
At Friday’s press conference Nokia executives described MeeGo as no more than a “learning project.”
Apparently Nokia failed to tell Intel that they were in talks with Microsoft until the day it was officially announced it to the world?
It’s also been revealed that Nokia had only dedicated a three-man external team to the development of UI customizations for MeeGo.
The Nokia’s N9, which Nokia executives said would be the first MeeGo device, was canned several weeks ago, apparently due to complaints from operators about its hinge.
