National broadband company, Internode, has cut the price of its pupular 50 GB monthly data quota taking $30 off the plan. The company has also revised a number of other new plans among its ADSL Fast broadband services in an attempt to retain competitiveness.
The new 50GB plan now makes it a direct challenger to the same plan from BigPond.
Internode’s product manager, Jim Kellet, said: “The good news for Internode customers is that our Fast2 plans continue to count only downloaded data in their monthly quota, which makes our 50GB plan worth more than a 50GB plan from BigPond!”
Delivered nationally via Telstra Wholesale ports, Internode Fast plans deliver ADSL2+ services at some 1300 telephone exchanges throughout Australia; and high speed ADSL1 at other enabled exchanges.
The company has also enhanced the appeal of its Telstra-delivered services by boosting the data quota for its 100GB Fast2 plan to 150GB – and in Zone 1, also knocking $10 a month from the price!
Kellett said these revisions aimed to retain competitiveness for Internode’s Australia-wide broadband plans.
The revisions come after extended negotiations for more equitable wholesale pricing to resell Telstra’s DSLAM equipment at telephone exchanges.
Due to Telstra pricing that differentiates between exchanges in different areas, Internode has applied a two-tier price structure for its Home-Fast2 broadband plans.
The prices for Zone 1 exchanges, where a Telstra competitor has DSLAM equipment installed, are lower than for comparable plans in Zone 2 and 3 exchanges, where Telstra retains a monopoly position. Latter plans are distinguished with the epithet “Reach” in their names.
Internode has also launched new SOHO-Fast2 plans, which offer benefits to businesses such as a fixed IP address and faster excess shaping, for an extra $10 per month.
All existing Home and SOHO ADSL Fast plans will now be “grandfathered”, meaning that they will be retained for current customers but not available for sale from today. Existing customers can use Internode’s online plan changer to move to a new plan if they want.
Internode is continuing negotiations with Telstra to further improve its supply price for these extended coverage ADSL2+ plans. The company also said it expects to release another round of enhancements in the near future.
