Apple Australia appears to have supply issues with their new iPad 2, with visitors to their online store being told that shipping could take between two to three weeks. When the online store went live at 1.00 am this morning visitors were told that delivery would take 24 hours.
By 2.00am, and after 30 minutes of downtime, when visitors were displayed a message that read “the page you’re looking for cannot be found” error message, delivery had slipped to weeks.

In other signs that Apple is struggling with supply of the new tablet all three carriers in Australia including Vodafone, Telstra and Optus have said that the new iPad 2 will not be available via their stores.
Independent Apple Retailer MyMac stores in Melbourne and Sydney told the Australian newspaper that they would sell iPad 2 at 5pm today, but as of late yesterday, shipments had not arrived and they had no idea how many would be available. Further, they were under contract with Apple not to reveal their stock levels.
A source at another independent Apple store, who declined to be named, said the iPad 2 allocation was ‘tight’, as it always is with new Apple products, and shipments also had not arrived as of late yesterday. The dealer had been told they were going to get half of what they had ordered, and expected to run out of stock on Saturday, and doubted they would be resupplied within a week.
At this stage it’s not known whether JB Hi Fi, Harvey Norman or Bi W who in the past have shifted large volumes of iPad 1 have stock.
What we do know is that the Apple Stores around Australia will have stock along with selected specialist Apple retailers.
Overseas several iPad owners have gone to forums to complain about the lack of supply while others are now claiming that they will wait for iPad 3 which is rumoured to be launched in September 2011.
