iPhone OZ Launch Facing Delay

The launch of the new Apple iPhone 4 could get delayed in Australia after Apple admitted that they were having problems getting their hands on enough touch screens to meet demand for the new iPhone. Meanwhile Samsung has stepped in to help solve iPad display supply problems.

The launch of the new Apple iPhone 4 could get delayed in Australia  after Apple admitted that they were having problems getting their hands on enough touch screens to meet demand for the new phone.
Insiders are tipping that the Australian launch could be put back a month to August as Apple struggles to keep up demand for their new iPhone 4 and their recently launche iPad.
Last week Samsung said that will  start volume shipments of 9.7-inch panels for the Apple iPad in July with monthly shipments reaching 300,000-500,000 units within months. Currently LG Display is the principle supplier of iPad display screens.
LG Display shipped about 800,000-900,000 9.7-inch iPad panels in May, up from over 700,000 units in April, 470,000 units in March, and 300,000 units in February the DigiTimes reported at the weekend.
Digitimes Research analyst Kuo Ming-Chi said monthly shipments of the iPad have reached 1.2 million units, up from the 700,000 units per month when the product first introduced to the market, and the monthly shipments may reach 2.5 million units by the end of 2010.
Ashok Kumar, an analyst at Rodman & Renshaw said recently thart the display production bottleneck for the new Apple iPhone 4 has caused Apple to cut the number of iPhones it can ship each month. The issue is set to impact Apple’s revenue targets.
“Demand for the iPhone is chasing supply on a near-term basis,” Kumar said in New York.
