Retailer revamped rental offering, everything from iPads to phones and TV
JB HiFi’s new RentSmart scheme lets consumers rent iPads, Macs, software, TVs and smartphones starting at $4.02 per week, with an option to upgrade to a newer model every 2 years.
It also covers theft and accidents and the retailer is offering consumer approval for its rentsmart scheme within 5 minutes online.
However, you need to be earning $30K plus and never have been bankrupt.
Rental agreements come in 24,36 and 48 month options. JB is renting out electronics worth $330 and over, and you can also rent multiple products.
However, the interest rate is pretty high – say if a consumer wanted to buy 55″ Samsung Smart 3D TV costing $2496, they pay off $44.18 every week for 2 years, meaning they would be repaying $4594.72 in total, or $2000 over the original price.
However, it is offering 25% rebate if consumers upgrade after 2 years.
JB are also offering customers a loan replacement item if an item is faulty or stolen.
