John Lennon Now On iTunes

John Lennon’s solo catalogue is the next in line of former Beatles’ albums to join the iTunes ranks. Solo work from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr is already available on the online store.

Apple says 16 of Lennon’s solo works from EMI Music are now available for the first time on iTunes, with the “Lennon Legend” and “Acoustic” collections making their worldwide digital debuts.

For a limited period of 30 days, video content will also be included with the albums “John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band,” “Sometime in New York City,” “Walls and Bridges,” “Milk and Honey” and the collections “Anthology” and “Working Class Hero.” The videos otherwise cost $3.39.

“John would have loved the fact that his music will now be available in a format suited to a new generation of listeners,” said Yoko Ono.

“John Lennon is one of the greatest artists of our time,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re thrilled to have his solo catalogue available on the iTunes Store for the first time.”

The John Lennon tunes will be available as DRM-free music tracks with 256 kbps AAC encoding at an RRP of $2.29 per song.

George Harrison’s solo career is the only ex-Beatle remaining from being available on iTunes.
