KEF Audio is set to join the list of top end sound Companies that will shortly launch new Dolby Atmos speakers.
At this weeks CEDIA show in the USA the US Company has introduced new the two-way R50 Atmos module, which sits on top of KEF’s current R Series and Q Series speakers.
The R50’s angled-up drivers bounce height effects off the ceiling.
The Atmos module sits on freestanding or wall-mounted speakers. The closed-box speaker uses a proprietary Uni-Q driver array consisting of 1-inch vented aluminum tweeter mounted in the center of a 5.25-inch bass/mid driver.
The speaker uses KEF’s tangerine waveguide to maximize dispersion. The speaker measures 6.9 by 7.1 by 10.2 inches. It delivers 106dB maximum output and boasts a frequency response of 105Hz to 18.5kHz (+/-3dB). Recommended amp power is 25 to 100 watts. It will be available in October.
The speakers are tipped to sell for around $1,500.
