King Sized And Gold HTC One Set To Be Revealed

HTC who will launch its enlarged Phablet One Max smartphone later this week has also announced a gold One smartphone that will set you back over $3,500.

HTC is crafting five HTC One smartphones in 18-carat gold to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the UK MOBO awards.

Inside, it’s the same HTC One as the one you buy at JB Hi Fi or Optus the aluminum outer casing is replaced with a gold-plated wrap. HTC partnered with high-end gold gadget maker Goldgenie to produce the limited-edition gold smartphone.

Gold HTC One will be presented to the winner of the Best Newcomer category sponsored by the Taiwanese handset maker at the MOBO Awards in Glasgow on October 19. Interestingly, the device only features the MOBO 18 logo laser etched on the rear, with the logo of the company’s former partner Beats Audio conspicuously absent, despite the fact that the special edition device has been made to honor a music event.

“The best artists have always been given gold discs to celebrate their success, but today most people listen to music on their phone,” said Phil Blair, HTC President, Europe Middle East and Africa. “We wanted to celebrate that fact. We’re sure the winning MOBO artist will love their unique phone and we will even be giving a lucky member of the general public the chance to get their hands on one soon too,” Blair added.

While there has been no announcements in Australia overseas media have got an invitation that states “One finger opens up a big view, you are invited to immerse in the sound with us,” suggesting not only the BoomSound front stereo speakers usually associated with the One, but also its rumored fingerprint scanner.

The invitation received by Engadget states that the launch will be held in Taiwan at 6pm local time on October 18th, but a similar one received from HTC Hong Kong advises that it will be launching on October 16th.
