Cisco-owned Kiss Technology is set to partner with several global TV manufacturers to incorporate a KISS Technology TV recorder and media player inside a plasma or LCD Screen.
Kiss, which is owned by Cisco, has already signed an OEM agreement with a large well-known Japanese TV manufacturer with one more contracts to be signed this week.
Kiss which is distributed in Australia by Qualifi, will get out of designing and manufacturing its own TV screens. Instead it will work closely with TV manufacturers to develop slim-fitting Kiss player and Linksys wireless technology for displays systems.
The move is seen as way for TV Companies to add value by co-branding TV screens with a player or wireless technology from an independent company specialising in wireless and media player technology.
Tomas Sorenson, General Manager of sales for Kiss, said” We see this as a great move as it allows us to concentrate on developing high end media and DVD players while working with a specialist TV manufacturer. We already have one Japanese manufacturer with strong European links signed up and another will be signed up soon”.
He added, “These relationships also allow us to develop Linksys wireless technology for incorporation into TVs. This will allow audio, for example, to be streamed to wireless speakers or home theatre kits”. We are also working on new AV server players with expanded hard disks, along with new online media services — including a Reuter’s news and stock stream”.
Len Wallis, of Len Wallis Audio, said at the CES show “This is an interesting move. It allows two strong brands to be marketed together while providing for consumers leading edge TV and player technology”.
Kiss has also said that the new KISS DP600 player, which was due in Australia pre-Xmas, will now not ship ’till at least February/March 2006.
