Kogan has been caught out selling questionable grey imported drones that, according to Australian authorities, did not meet Australian electrical certifications.
The online retailer, who has bypassed Harvey Norman (the official Australian distributor for Solo 3DR) has been importing the drones direct from Asia.
It is not known whether these drones are actually manufactured by the US company Solo 3DR or whether they are fake Solo 3DR drones.
Simon Taylor, the managing director of Arisit (who manages local distribution of 3DR), has already spoken out about the recall.
He told Appliance Retailer that they “believe that the Kogan recall has resulted from a ‘grey import’ where the power packs do not comply with Australian regulations.”
“I can confirm that this product has not been supplied by Arisit and as a result we are not involved in the recall as our products comply with all Australian electrical standards and certification. We would like to take this opportunity to remind retailers that this highlights one of the main issues with grey imports,” he said.
The 29 customers affected have been contacted to advise them of the issue and offer replacement products that comply with Australian certifications.
