Kwikset Kevo Smart Lock Launches OZ October

The Bluetooth enabled Kevo Smart Lock from Kwikset is launching in Australia during October, letting you unlock your home’s door with an iPhone app, a regular key, or if you’ve got a Kevo fob, just a tap on the lock’s exterior.

Kwikset’s Kevo is an electronic lock that can be opened by an iPhone app, promising secure Bluetooth encryption, the high security of picking resistance and a “bump guard” to protect the barrel from being externally manipulated.
It is launching in Australia next month in Dick Smith, Masters, Harvey Norman, Apple’s Online Store, Betta Electrical and other home and electronics retailers for $329.
It enables you to unlock your Kevo-protected front door, or any door you have installed Kevo on, share keys with family, grant limited access to cleaners/guests, and more with a simple tap of the finger, elbow or even your hip, because Kevo’s iPhone app can sense when you’ve approached your front door.

Through the free app, homeowners can securely email eKeys to family, friends, house-guests or service people, anywhere, anytime, giving you excellent security and autonomy over who has access to your home.

Once an eKey is received, recipients can simply keep their iPhone in their bag or pocket and unlock the door with a simple touch. The app will even inform you of when and which people have entered and exited your home.
In the case of service people such as cleaners, tradies and nannies, you also have the power to revoke their key or set a defined timeframe for the eKey to be active, meaning no more un-safe practises such as leaving spare keys under the mat or giving keys to strangers who may cut copies for unlawful purposes.
Greg Gluchowski, is Kwikset’s president and says Kevo isn’t just another lock, but represents a shift in lifestyle for busy homeowners, stating: “Whether keeping track of your teenage daughter, granting temporary access to a housecleaner or monitoring your front door activity while on vacation, Kevo redefines the meaning of smart, simple security.”

If your guests, family members or others don’t have access to a smartphone, you can give them a compact fob that is able to open the door immediately upon contact with the Kevo Smart Lock, with a free fob in each Kevo set and more that can be purchased at any time.

As you’d expect, you can use the Kevo as a conventional lock at any time through the use of a standard key, with two included in the package.

Kwikset also boasts that Kevo is super secure thanks to its super reliable Kwikset SmartKey lock mechanism that works like any conventional lock and has been constructed with the highest levels of security in mind.
There’s also a “BumpGuard” feature to protect against lock bumping, which Kwikset says “has withstood the highest levels lock pick testing”. You can also instantly re-key the lock yourself, meaning so no need to replace the whole mechanism if you lose a key.
On sale from October for $329, it will be available from Masters, Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, Apple Online, Betta Electrical and other home and electronics retailers around Australia.
