Lenovo Unveils Space-Saving VR Gaming Desktops

Lenovo has unveiled two new virtual reality gaming desktops, its IdeaCentre Y710 Cube and IdeaCentre AIO Y910, designed to deliver high-performance gaming while saving on space.Lenovo states it created the “minimalist form factor” desktops “to give serious players top-of-the-line performance around the home and elsewhere”.

“From the chair to the couch and beyond, these new gaming cube and AIO designs let gamers take their highest settings nearly anywhere,” Lenovo states.

The Y710 Cube, which comes with a built-in carry handle, weighs in at 7.4 kg, and sports up to Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080 graphics, up to a 6th gen Intel Core i7 processor and up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM.

Running Windows 10, it is equipped with up to Killer DoubleShot Pro Wi-Fi, up to integrated Dolby Audio, and up to a 2 TB hard disk drive or up to a 256 GB solid state drive, and comes with the option of an integrated Xbox One wireless receiver, supporting up to eight controllers simultaneously, and one Xbox One controller.

“The IdeaCentre Y710 Cube lets players confidently handle 4K gaming, VR and high-quality streaming with massive computing capabilities in real-time, as well as multi-task between editing a spreadsheet and streaming a movie,” Lenovo states.

The AIO Y910, meanwhile, is built within a 27″ quad-HD (2,560 x 1,440) borderless display, with Lenovo describing it “as both a pro-gaming, VR-ready PC and a high-end desktop for efficient productivity”.

It is decked out with up to Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 460 graphics, up to a 6th gen Intel Core i7 processor, up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM, and up to a 2 TB hard disk drive or up to a 256 GB solid state drive.

“Twin 5 W Harman Kardon stereo speakers produce impeccable sound, while Killer DoubleShot Pro Wi-Fi reduces in-game lag,” Lenovo states. “An ultra-thin display featuring 144 Hz refresh rate and 5 ms response time deliver that tactical edge when every millisecond counts.”

Lenovo has yet to announce Australian availability and pricing. It states that the Y710 Cube starts at 899 euro, available starting in August, with the Y710 Cube with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 starting at 1,699 euro, available starting in September.

Lenovo states that the AIO Y910 starts at 1,799 euro, available starting in September, with the AIO Y910 with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 starting at 2,199 euro, available starting in October.
