LG has announced the commencement of the global rollout of its G Flex2 curved smartphone, unveiled earlier in the year at CES.The Flex2 will begin rolling out in selected markets, LG has advised, with markets in a number of regions, including Asia, to commence sales in the weeks following the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) at the beginning of March.

Set within the Flex2’s contoured body is a 5.5-inch full-HD curved P-OLED display, which LG states “delivers an incredibly sharp and vivid viewing experience from every angle”, while under the hood it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Upgraded Gesture Shot makes it easier to take selfies with a hand gesture, with LG having additionally extended the distance from which the camera can recognise the user’s hand to 1.5 metres, which can work in conjunction with selfie sticks.

Other features include a Self Healing back cover, which LG states heals everyday scratches in just 10 seconds, while Fast Charge charges the Flex2’s 3000 mAh battery to almost 50 per cent in a little over half an hour.

Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and equipped with 2 GB DDR4 RAM, the Flex2 comes in both 16 GB and 32 GB versions.

LG states major carriers in the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Germany and the UK will be among the first to offer the Flex2, with markets in North and South America, Europe and Asia to announce the start of sales in the weeks following MWC.
