LG: Gerry Harvey Not Responsible For PR Fiasco

LG Australia has come to the defence of Harvey Norman claiming it was their responsibility to notify media earlier after a Harvey Norman customer failed to turn up for an audience with Gerry Harvey. In an effort to generate publicity for the launch of their new 84″ LG Ultra High Definition TV, the Korean Company PR machine worked with Harvey Norman management for Harvey Norman executive Chairman, Gerry Harvey, to personally make the first sale at his store in Caringbah.

LG PR Company Pulse Communications told the media that he would be there to congratulate the first Australian customer to purchase an Ultra HD TV.

The only problem was the customer failed to turn up.

Michael Doyle the General Manager of Sales at LG Said “It was our fault. It was our gig and when we did find out that there was a no show we were slow communicating the situation. It was our party, our guest and we were responsible, not Harvey Norman for the communication mix up “.

The first SmartHouse got to know the event was cancelled was at 10.59am for an 11.00am official handover when a Pulse Communications executive said the event was off. No reason was given at the time.
