to start of sales of the world’s first OLED TV with 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution and will make its debut at IFA next week in Berlin.
Coming in
77″ and 65″ screen sizes, the new LG TV has a curved panel
composed of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) in Ultra HD or ‘4K’ quality, which is
four time the quality of Full HD screens.

of LG’s Home Entertainment says OLED is a “game changer” and are streets ahead of LED TVs with more lifelike colours and
no blurring, and predicts it will overtake LCD sales within a few years.

The
first LG UHD OLED TVs (77EG9700/ 65EC9700) go on sale in Korea this week, with
US and Europe to follow, although LG could not confirm if they will hit OZ.
The Korean TV maker says the combi of 4K + OLED “is the future of television.” The dual tech sets also runs WebOS,
its excellent Smart TV platform.
The large screen TV features LG’s proprietary Four-Colour Pixel WRGB technology with 33
million sub-pixels to produce lifelike colours
and infinite contrast ratio. Its fast
response rate helps the TV render motion without flickering.
“LG
4K OLED TV is the pinnacle of technological achievement and a new paradigm that
will change the dynamics of the next generation TV market,” said Hyun-hwoi Ha, CEO
of LG’s Home Entertainment.

“As
the next evolutionary step in display technology, OLED will play a major role
in reshaping our industry. I feel confident when I say that 4K OLED is a bona
fide game changer.”
It
also comes with a leaf-shaped stand, but can also be wall mounted. Like
the other LG 4K TVs announced yesterday, these sets have harman/kardon multi-channel

“OLED’s
benefits are obvious. There’s no deterioration in picture quality and issues
such as image blurring, distortion and colour leakage in curved LED units are virtually non-existent on curved OLED TVs,” said Ha.
The 4K OLED TV, was a Best of Innovations award winner at CES in January.
