LG is adding to its Android stockpile with Optimus Pro and Net.
The phone makers fresh smartphones — the LG Optimus Pro and Optimus Net will run on super fast Gingerbread Android 2.3 OS.
The announcement comes as Google CEO Larry Page revealed yesterday it is activating a whopping 550,000 Android devices a day.
The Pro reads like a BlackBerry spec (and looks like one too) and is designed for business users with its portrait bar QWERTY keyboard, the first LG model ever to feature this, but also a touch functionality on its 2.8″ screen and powerful 800 MHz CPU.
The QWERTY is ergonomically designed for fast and accurate typing and will keep users organised with dedicated hotkeys for email and scheduler.
The Pro will be available in white, titan, as well as classic black and both the Optimus models also boast 1500mAh battery for longer talk time.
The Optimus Net, on the other hand, places social networking at the heart of the operation, via LG Social+.
Specs wise, the 3.2 HVGA (320 x 480 res) display delivers sharper viewing, 800 MHz CPU and content sharing with other DLNA-friendly devices is a walk in the park via SmartShare tool. However, these specs will vary by market, says LG.
LG’s social+ tool combines Facebook and Twitter portals in one easy widget on the homescreen.
With a single click, users can multitask between updating their status while checking friends’ social media feeds.
The social widget provides one-click photo sharing with multiple social media accounts from the home screen.
Optimus Net will also be Near Field Communication (NFC) compatible for payments technology, although this appears to be confined to European users only and will come in a choice of colours similar to the Pro.

“And that’s precisely what we’ve done with Optimus Pro and Optimus Net, two completely new devices which enhance LG’s reputation as the company with an Android smartphone suitable for everyone.”
The Optimus’ will be available in the coming months, in 30 markets with no specific Aussie release date yet.
