Panasonic is bringing its Lumix DMC-CM1 smart camera to the Australian market, with the smartphone/camera hybrid set to land from mid-July.Blurring the boundaries between smartphone and camera, Panasonic describes the CM1 as a “high-quality digital camera and a state-of-the-art smartphone in one”.
From the camera side of the equation, the CM1 houses a 1″ 20 MP high-sensitivity MOS sensor and a Leica DC Elmarit lens with a wide-angle 28 mm focal length and an aperture of f/2.8, is equipped with its own dedicated imaging processor, and can capture 4K video and photos.

“The CM1 produces crisp, highly dynamic images, while also meeting the highest demands of smartphone functionality,” Doug Campbell, Panasonic Australia senior product manager, imaging, stated.
“It uses the same image sensor that is responsible for excellent image quality in the Lumix DMC-FZ1000. Because of the sensor size, it offers outstanding low light performance with minimum noise levels – even at high ISO.”

Meanwhile, on the smartphone side of the equation, the CM1 sports a 4.7″ full-HD display, is powered by a Qualcomm 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, while the CM1’s 16 GB of internal memory can be expanded to up to 128 GB with an optional microSDXC card.
The CM1 carries a price tag of $1,399 RRP.
