Macs “Still At Risk” From Trojan: Expert

Apple Mac users are still at risk, warns security expert.

Norton tool just released, will remove largest Mac threat on record after it was revealed Flashback Trojan malware threat which put as many as 600,000 Apple’ PC on high alert.

This malicious software known as “malware” appears as a common plug-in for Internet browsers, but is capable of stealing passwords and personal information, although Trojan itself is not a virus.

Security guru’s Norton confirmed today the numbers infected is trending downward but as of yesterday, there were approx 270,000 machines still infected with the deadly virus.

Last week, Apple Apple has released a security update, online security company Norton has also made a free tool available on www.norton.com/au/flashback.

The vast majority of these infections are in the US although several hundred in Oz may also be still at risk.

“The Flashback Trojan is a wake-up call for everyone who’s online – no matter what platform or device they use,” said Norton Internet Safety Advocate Marian Merritt.

 

“No operating system is immune to malware attack and whether you’re using a PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone, you should have security precautions in place.

It is vital to follow all security updates and install all issued software security patches, especially the most recent update from Apple, says Norton.
