Giant retailer Harvey Norman, who is already on the nose with consumers after their Chairman’s call for a GST tax on Internet sales, has been embarrassed after four forest activists scaled the Opera House in Sydney to protest against the mass retailer. The incident unfolded just before 10am when Opera House staff called the Police to report that a number of people were attempting to access the Opera House sails.

When Police from the Rocks arrived they discovered that two women and a man had climbed the iconic structure and unfolded a banner stating “No Harvey No! Stop selling Aussie forest destruction”.
One woman was arrested on the ground after allegedly refusing directions to leave the area by security officers.
All four are now in police custody at The Rocks Police Station.
AAP said that members of the activist group, The Last Stand, had abseiled from the roof to unfurl a 10×12-metre banner. The group is campaigning against the retailer after a year-long investigation into its timber usage, which it says is contributing to the destruction of forests.
The group says it has tracked timber from native forests in Australia through its shipment to China for processing into furniture, and then to its final sale in Australia through Harvey Norman stores.
