Microsoft Goes Dinky-Di

The dictionary in the new Microsoft Office suite will include several Australian colloquialisms, including dinky-di, bogan, shelia and dag.

More than 24,000 Australians voted online to decide which 20 Australianisms would be included in the Office 2007 suite, due out in January.

G’day was the most popular choice, followed by sickie, ute, trackies and bogan.

These words will no longer register as a misspelling in Microsoft Office programs, meaning the red squiggly line under them will disappear.

Microsoft worked with a panel of local language experts to create the initial list of words that were voted on.

Other entries in the top 20 words include trackies, wuss, bonza and Bradman, after the cricket legend.
