Microsoft Provides Closer Look At New Xbox One Experience

Microsoft is building up to the launch of its new Xbox One experience on November 12, providing further insight as to what is in store for users.Microsoft states the update, which will see the Xbox One powered by Windows 10, will deliver the “fastest and most social Xbox experience ever”, with backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games among the most notable features set to be introduced.

New videos (below) released by Microsoft provide a walk-through of the functionality of the new Xbox One Home and guide.

“The new design will look very familiar but we’ve made some important updates inspired by fan feedback,” Mike Ybarra, Xbox director of program management, wrote via a blog post. “Your most recent items will still be front and centre, but we’ve added the ability to scroll vertically.

“You can scroll down to see the list of your most recently played games and apps, and each tile has contextual items that allow you to easily see messages straight from the developer, see which friends are playing games, and share your latest game clips and screenshots.”

Pins have also been included in the new Home at the bottom of the screen, with users able to scroll down or press the right trigger on their controller for access, while a new tips tile is now positioned in the lower right corner of Home.

Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 guide has been reimagined for the Xbox One, designed to provide users quick and easy access to information while they are gaming.

The guide features information such as user profiles, friends online, allows users to start or manage a party, messages, notifications, along with settings, while the snap function allows users to multi-task, moving apps to one side of the screen.

Leading into the holiday season, Microsoft and rival Sony have been updating their respective console offerings, with Sony recently announcing new pricing for its 500 GB PS4, having also recently released its PS4 3.0 system software update.
