Microsoft Slammed For Faulty Surface Tablet

Microsoft’s attempt to shaft their PC partners by selling their brand new Surface Tablet direct because they had no faith in their partners to produce a “quality product” has taken a new twist with consumers claiming that the Microsoft product is faulty.Hundreds of consumers and tech journalists who purchased Microsoft’s new Surface tablet claim that the new product has a faulty Touch Cover screen.

They claim that the screen is splitting and exposing an internal wire after just a few days of use.

The Guardian newspaper in the UK claims that Tom Warren, a writer on the Verge website and Matthew Baxter-Reynolds, a Windows developer reported that the defect is identical in each case: the cover, which has an integral keyboard, begins to split at its seam where the device attaches magnetically to the main computer.

“My touch cover, in the middle at the join to the screen is peeling, like the top layer has come loose and is ruffling up,” one Surface buyer wrote on a forum for the product. “Worried its going to get worse as I use it more.”

The Daily Mail said it is unclear whether the screen problems are due to a bad batch or are part of a bigger issue with the gadget that will become more apparent as more people use the Surface tablet over a longer period of time.

Consumers in the U.S, Australia and the U.K have reported the same issue with the Surface’s screen, suggesting that it is not isolated to a single manufacturing batch.

Microsoft would not comment on the number of reports the company had received from Australian consumers.
