Microsoft Slashes Price Of New Office For Mac

Microsoft has chopped the basic pricing of its new Office suite for Macintosh, due to reach the Australian market in October.

The current version, Office 2008 for Mac, costs A$649 in the standard version, with a “home and student” edition available at $229.
The new Office For Mac Home And Business 2011 – which appears to replace the standard 2008 version – will cost a basic $279, a $360 reduction. A “Home and Student” version starts at $169, down $60.
The $169 for “Home and Student” covers just one installation. If users want more, they can buy a family pack for $309 which allows installation on three Macs.
“Home and Business” users get one install for their $279; a “Multi-Pack” at $379 allows just one extra installation.
Both editions include World, PowerPoint, Excel and Messenger applications. “Home and Business” also includes the Outlook e-mail program.
