Called Miele@home, this new system will be showcased at IFA.
As part of Miele@home, Miele will show its Smart Grid Technology which offers consumers significant potential energy savings by allowing them to choose to operate their appliances in lower-rate tariff periods.
“The smart-grid functionality is particularly pertinent to laundry care appliances which can be set to automatically run when electricity is at its cheapest,” said the company.
The company will also launch an iPhone application called InfoControl Plus that gives users full control of all operating Miele appliances at a single glance.
“Using wireless LAN technology, the function is capable of checking on the status of appliances throughout the home by calling up the selected programme, the operating mode or the remaining countdown time. This function also allows kitchen and laundry appliances to be remotely controlled from anywhere around the home,” explained a Miele spokesperson.
Finally, the InfoControl Plus is complemented by Miele’s InfoService function which can relay error messages and other useful information about Miele appliances to the owner’s smart phone, other Internet-enabled mobile phone or a PC – anywhere in the world.
All that is needed is registration on Miele’s website. InfoService makes for safety away from home. If, for example, the storage temperature in the freezer rises, the owner is notified by email and given tips as to how to resolve the problem.
