Motorola Xoom Tablet Leaked Release Date

The Motorola Xoom tablet that is set to feature the Honeycomb Android operating system has had its release date leaked by internal Best Buy documents, revealed to be released on February 17 in the US.
The Xoom is set to be the first tablet to run on Google’s tablet-optimised Android 3.0 OS, codenamed ‘Honeycomb,’ while the every other Android tablet currently runs what is more of a smartphone OS port rather than tablet-specific software.

The Xoom has an estimated price of $US700, so Australians could possibly looking at a price over the thousand threshold given the extended price tags that tend to fall in the oceanic region consumer electronics market.

The flagship tablet for Motorola will feature a sizeable 10.1-inch HD widescreen screen – one of its key selling points (and factors in pricing). Connectivity upgrades in 4G LTE makes it a tablet for the future, but won’t come in any handy for Australian users any time soon as LTE networks are still only in trial stages with major telecoms like Telstra holding firmly onto their 3G networks.

The Xoom will sport 1080p HD video support and Adobe Flash support for browsing and gaming, packing a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM and 32GB of space. A high-power battery that lasts for up to 10 hours in video playback time is a key feature to keep this gaming and media-centric tablet ahead of its competition.

Rear- and front-facing cameras also make it a top option for video calling.
