There were plenty of big players on the floor of this year’s PAX Australia convention in Melbourne but few brought their A-game in the same way that MSI did.
The tech company brought delivered new products in all categories: from their dedicated gaming PCs and Notebook to their first VR-ready backpack PC, the VR One.
The company’s flagship product, the MSI Aegis Ti promises to unlock the power of overclocked Intel’s K-Series processor. The Aegis’ easily-upgradable design features detachable panels and is broken into three sections for easy access
They’ve even incorporated the power supply into the stand, making for a consistent and distinguished addition to any gaming setup
It even ships with a set of MSI accessories. Licensed through Steelseries, they offer the tactile benefits of a mechanic keyboard with the aesthetic benefits of a red backlight.
Their GT83VR Titan SLI notebook features an unconventional design that pushes the built-in keyboard towards the user to leave more room for the notebook’s dual Nvidia GeForce. They’ve made further gains in form factor by combining the key and touch pad. As you’d expect, this raw performance power is balanced out with two whirlwind fans and fifteen heat pipes to ensure effective cooling.
Of course the biggest prize on display at PAX was MSI’s VR backpack. They weren’t the only company showing one off at the event, but the product they did show off was one that combined the powerful performance of a PC with the immersive potential of VR.
MSI asserts that the VR One will have a massive impact on VR by removing the limitation of having to stay a cords-length from your PC. Weighing 3.6kgs in total, the VR One is packing an overclocked CPU and GeForce GTX 10 series graphics card. Like HP’s Omen backpack, it comes with two battery packs, each capable of delivering 1.5 hours of VR use.
