Social networking site MySpace.com has signed a deal with US telco Cingular Wireless to allow users to update their MySpace page using their mobile phones.
The service will give users the ability to edit profiles, view and add friends, post photos and blogs as well as send and receive MySpace messages while on the go. Users will pay $US2.99 to use the service as well as any additional data download fees.
“MySpace.com has a passionate community of users, many of whom use our site as their primary means of staying in touch with family and friends,” said MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe. “We are thrilled to team with Cingular to enable their mobile users to experience the richest MySpace Mobile offering to date.”
MySpace, which was purchased by News Corporation in 2005, is also purported to launch a similar service in Australia in the first quarter of next year. No word on pricing as yet.
