NBN Company Moves Into Same Building As Telstra

NBNCo hopes to have its network operations centre (NOC) in Melbourne’s Docklands location up and running the end of this year after spending “tens of millions of dollars”, says CEO Mike Quigley.

NBNCo hopes to have its network operations centre (NOC) in Melbourne’s Docklands location up and running the end of this year after spending “tens of millions of dollars”, says CEO Mike Quigley.
The Melbourne site for the NOC was revealed late last week. It will be located in a four-storey building in the “Digital Harbour” area of Docklands, also occupied by Telstra.
When fully operational, the NOC will employ around 425 professional and technical staff.
Melbourne was chosen for the centre because it is where NBNCo’s engineering, technology and construction activities are taking place, Quigley said.
Comms and Broadband Minister Stephen Conroy hailed the development. “The Network Operations Centre will assist in making sure customers who connect to the NBN have a robust and reliable experience,” he said.
The centre will take service orders from retail service providers; coordinate provisioning and fault repairs; manage network traffic; and provide data for billing purposes.
Design and fit-out has already begun. Quigley said the NOC would occupy the third floor of the building.
