Netflix Sells Out Chromcast As Dick Smith Discounts It To $29

Google are reaping massive dividends from the roll out of Netflix in Australia with both Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi stores running out of stock of the popular Chromecast device.

According to a JB Hi Fi store Manager Demand for Chromecast device has been “unprecedented” since the launch of Netflix in Australia last week with several stores now out of stock.

The Chromecast device that can be plugged into a TV, PC, or notebook allows users to access streaming content from Netflix, Stan and Foxtel’s Presto as well as several other Google Play Store services.

The Chromecast dongle which sells for $46 at Harvey Norman is $29.05 from Dick Smith but there is a catch.

What you have to do is go online and sign up with your credit card details for a free trial to Stan to receive the discount, however, you can kill the subscription immediately at no cost.

Dick Smith will then send you a code by email to activate the device.

Or if you want you pick up your purchase (using Click & Collect or have it delivered for $5.95.

The offer is good until 31 May, though it’s only for the first 20,000 customers which if current demand for the device is continued it could be out of stock very soon.
