Belkin is bringing its WeMo Insight Switch, allowing users to control and manage home electronics appliances and monitor energy usage, to Australia, today announcing its availability in the local market.The Insight Switch compact plug connects electronic devices to a Wi-Fi network, providing users with notifications about a device’s usage and energy consumption, allowing users to turn devices on and off, program customised notifications and change their device status.
Accessed via the WeMo app, available for iOS and Android, it can monitor devices, sending information to the user’s smartphone or tablet, pairing with appliances such as heaters, air conditioning units, TVs, washers, dryers, fans and lights.
Users can also create rules and custom schedules, and receive notifications personalised to meet their needs.
“Evolving from the original WeMo Switch, the Insight Switch is an intelligent but easy-to-use solution for consumers to manage and better understand the energy usage of their electronic devices,” Andrea Bruno, senior product marketing manager international for WeMo, commented.
“From observing whether a television has been on too long to being alerted when a laundry cycle has finished, users can observe and manage home electronics for better management and control of their home.”
The Insight Switch is available now from retailers including Bunnings Warehouse and JB Hi-Fi, carrying a price tag of $99.95.
