New HTC OLED Android 2.0 Phone Early In 2010

HTC, who was set to launch a new OLED Android 2.0-based Passion smartphone in January, is now set to delay the launch due to a new chipset from Qualcomm and further advances in the developmen of the Google Android software.

It is now expected that the new phone will be shown at the Mobile World Congress 2010, which will take place in Barcelona in February. Also set to be revealed is a new HTC Google Android phone with a QWERTY keyboard.

The new HTC Passion will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz CPU and incorporate a a 3.5-inch multi-touch OLED display screen.

Some sources have speculated that the new QWERTY Android phone is likely to be named the HTC Espresso, which will succeed its predecessor, the HTC Hero.

Yesterday HTC announced revenues of US$444.41 million for November, up 12.6 per cent sequentially but down 19.5 per cent on year. For the first 11 months of 2009, revenues totaled NT$130.81 billion, declining 5.9 per cent from a year earlier.
