New LG G4 Tipped For Late Second Quarter Launch In OZ

LG Australia executives are not saying when they will release their new G4 however insiders are tipping a second quarter launch.

In the past LG Australia has been extremely slow launching new smartphone models with the G2 and G3 months behind thair European and US launches.

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week LG refused to comment on the potential launch date with the Korean Company appearing to be moving away from a comparision battle with the new HTC One M9 or the new Samsung Galaxy S6.

Insiders are tipping a May or later launch in Australia.

An LG spoksperson at MWC said  “Samsung usually releases its new flagship model in the first quarter of each year, and Apple in the second quarter. We need some in-between time to make a bigger splash.”

Those waiting to get their hands on the LG G4 can expect the device to roll out in April or May according to LG’s mobile chief Cho Ju-no.

A report on Phone Arena makes clear that there is a very high chance that the G4 will come out of the box with Android 5.1 pre-installed.

This is extremely good news since Android 5.1 is a more stable system expected to deliver improved RAM management and longer battery life. If The REM is correct, the LG G4 may pack features such as a 5.7 inch HD -IPS +LCD display, a 3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801/802/805/808, 3/4GB RAM with microSD card up to 128GB, and a 15 to 17MP main camera and a 3 to 4MP front snapper.

One feature that may set the G4 farther apart from its predecessor, the G3, is a fingerprint sensor. Although such sensors have been seen on devices such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and the Samsung Galaxy S5, LG has yet to carry the feature on a flagship smartphone. “LG Electronics has recently decided to deploy a fingerprint sensor on its next flagship smartphone and the scanner will be placed at the back of the device,” an industry source close to the matter told The Korea Herald.
