New Panasonic 3D1 Compact Cam Fits HD 3D Recording In Your Pocket

Panasonic is releasing a virtual all-in-one compact cam with all the 3D trimmings with its latest compact Lumix camera, the 3D1.
The Lumix 3D1 is your typical compact cam from the outside with more than your typical functionality on the inside, sporting dual lenses for 3D image capture and full HD video capture with the ability to shoot 2D stills mid-video.

The two 25mm ultra-wide angle lenses sit over 12 megapixel high sensitivity MOS sensors. Together, they sport up to 4x optical zoom, while the processor running the show allows the two lenses to focus and zoom independently of each other.

With this quad-CPU power behind it, the camera can simultaneously take 2D video with one lens while zooming in and snapping close-up shots with the other. It can capture 3D stills at 8MP and 3D video at 1920×1080 60i resolution, with a max of 8 frame per second shooting without the autofocus on.

It features much of the same simplicity-focused tech of the rest of the Lumix range like image stabilisation, auto-focus tracking, scene selection and other automatic features, backed up by a 3.5 inch touchscreen for simple control.

Panasonic will be bringing the Lumix 3D1 to Australian shores early next year, but have yet to tag a price on the camera. The US listing currently sits at a $500 RRP.
