New Pioneer Plasmas Offer Even Deeper Blacks

Pioneer has launched two new Kuro plasma models which claim to perform better than its previous generation models. The new line-up includes a 50-inch LX model as well as a 50-inch C-series model positioned as an entry-level flat panel solution.

The Pioneer PDP-LX509A plasma TV is one of the five 9th Generation Kuro models. This new generation comes with an advanced ASIC video processor, improved filter for enhanced contrast in bright environments, exclusive cell structure with crystal emissive layer for more intense black with added detail, a DLNA-certified Ethernet port offering Full-HD home networking, as well as a completely integrated DVB tuner developed exclusively by Pioneer.

The company claims that Pioneer’s PDP-LX509A KURO TV improves black levels five times over the current award-winning 8th Generation models and will give users details never before seen on a panel.

The unit also comes with a DLNA-certified Ethernet port that allows content streaming from any PC connected to the network,  KURO-Link , HDMI terminals, 24 frames per second processing (24fps), Home Gallery (JPEG Picture Viewer), and improved audio quality.

Pioneer Australia’s General Manager for the Home Entertainment Group, Tim O’Leary said: “Pioneer will continue to maintain an active role in the manufacturing process of its plasma flat panel displays, including the development of its back-end proprietary flat panel technologies and product assembly.”

“Our relentless plasma innovation will continue well beyond our 9th Generation models, as we persistently refine our KURO technology. The shared responsibility of manufacturing our plasma screens in the future will help sustain Pioneer’s reputation in plasma quality, rather than hinder it,” added Tim.

In addition to the LX509, the company has also launched the PDP-C509A. This screen also comes with the latest ASIC video processor, an improved filter for enhanced contrast in bright environments, exclusive cell structure with crystal emissive layer, and an integrated DVB tuner but misses out on Ethernet connectivity.

The Pioneer PDP-LX509A and the PDP-C509A will in Australia from early 2008 onwards with an RRP of $6,499 for the LX509A and $5,499 respectively.
