A Sharp 3D display screen that eliminates the need for 3D glasses is a key component of a new Nintendo handheld gaming device which is set to be released in February.

In what will be the first major update to the Nintendo DSi handheld system since its debut in 2004 the Japanese Company is moving quickly to out position Sony with a new device that will come standard with 96MB RAM, and an SD card slot, and an upgraded battery rated at 1,300mAh.

There is also speculation that Nintendo is working on a 7″ 3S Tablet gaming system.

The design  of the new 3D DSi has also changed according to leaked images with the Select, Home, and Start buttons now flush with the touchscreen’s surface.

Nintendo plans to launch the 3DS in Japan on February 26 for the equivalent of $300.
