New Video Camera, Games And Price For PSP

Hot on the heels of its PS3 firmware update, Sony has announced a price drop for the Playstation Portable (PSP) as well as a new video camera and Platinum game titles for the device.

The PSP base pack will now carry a recommended retail price of $279.95, while the five new Platinum titles will be launched the lower price tag of $29.95 each. The new Platinum titles are: Ridge Racer 2, Tekken, Killzone, Loco Roco, and Moto GP.

The new video camera Go!Cam (RRP: $79.95) will allow you to take up to two and half hours of video (with a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo) on your PSP. It plugs into the USB port on the PSP and also features an inbuilt microphone so you can get capture audio as well. Go!Cam comes with an editing software package to manage your film.

“Go!Cam quickly converts your PSP in a mini camcorder, allowing you to shoot stills or video quality that’s perfectly suited for email, upload or video editing or even playback on your PS3,” said Sony Computer Entertainment’s Patrick Lagana.

The announcement today follows a firmware update for PS3 which allows you to connect to a powered on PS3 remotely using your PSP. The use of Go!Cam also requires PSP firmware upgrade version 3.0 onwards.

“PSP is unique and is constantly evolving. It offers the widest palette of mobile entertainment, from gaming to video, music, photos and internet – and the unique possibility to connect to PS3 remotely, today’s announcements show more than ever why the  PSP is the handheld entertainment system of choice for the discerning gamer,” Lagana added.
