New Zen Watch Better Late Than Never

Taiwan’s Asus is looking to take a bigger share of the smartwatch market – currently dominated by Apple and, to a lesser extent, Samsung.

The Company who is entering the market late, just when sales of the Apple Watch showed the watch to ChannelNews two weeks ago in Taiwan.

The Taipei-based company has unveiled its new ZenWatch 3, described as “a stylish and customisable wearable device” in a gunmetal finish and powered by Android Wear.

It will be available in Australia from November 25, Asus says

“Its round case – available for the first time on an Asus wearable device – is crafted from 316L stainless steel and pairs perfectly with a choice of straps to provide sophisticated looks and all-day comfort,” Asus Oz says.

The ZenWatch 3 has a 1.39-inch Amoled display with 400 by 400 resolution, and a “gently curved” Gorilla Glass display that is said to facilitate smooth swiping gestures. A top crown button on the watch case can be assigned custom functions, giving wearers instant access to their favourite or most-used features, Asus says.

More than 50 software watchfaces are available by using the ZenWatch Manager smartphone app.  Aussie pricing will start at a recommended $449.
