Nikon Set To Bring Three New Lenses To Oz

Nikon Australia has today announced the launch of three new lenses, including its AF-S Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8E ED VR, the first in the Nikkor range featuring an aspherical Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass element.Nikon states the AF-S Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8E ED VR’s ED glass element effectively corrects various typical lens aberrations, delivering “brilliant photography across a diverse range of shooting conditions”.

The AF-S Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8E ED VR features 2.9x normal zoom, 24-70 mm focal-length range and f/2.8 maximum aperture, with its vibration reduction system providing an effect equivalent to 4.0 stops, while a new Silent Wave Motor accelerates autofocus performance speed by approximately 1.5 times.

“With the incorporation of the aspherical ED glass element in the AF-S Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8E ED VR, we have raised the bar even higher to set an impressive benchmark for imaging quality and precision,” James Murray, Nikon Australia director of sales & marketing, commented.

“No matter what shooting environment photographers are faced with, the AF-S Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8E ED VR delivers a stunning true-to-life contrast and colour that is unrivalled by any other and represents the pinnacle of the Nikkor range.”

Nikon has additionally announced the launch of the AF-S Nikkor 200-500 mm f/5.6E ED VR and AF-S Nikkor 24 mm f/1.8G ED lenses.

The AF-S Nikkor 200-500 mm f/5.6E ED VR is an FX-format compatible, 2.5x super-telephoto 200-500 mm zoom lens with a fixed maximum aperture of f/5.6, with a VR effect equivalent to a shutter speed of 4.5 stops faster in “NORMAL” mode, with a second VR mode shooting option, “SPORT” mode, also available.

The AF-S Nikkor 24 mm f/1.8G ED wide-angle 24 mm prime lens has an f/1.8 maximum aperture, and, weighing in at approximately 355 g, Nikon states it is “more mobile and compact than ever”.

“Whether a photographer is faced with the challenge of low-light or long distances, the new AF-S Nikkor 200-500 mm f/5.6E ED VR and AF-S Nikkor 24 mm f/1.8G ED make difficult image capture a thing of the past with supportive, innovative technology designed to give photographers even more freedom,” Murray commented.

“Both lenses have been designed to satisfy creative imaginations and engineered to ensure precise photography of the highest standard.”
