As tipped by Smarthouse a couple of weeks ago, Nikon has finally announced a new entry-level DSLR that comes with a new image sensor, image processing system, and Full HD video recording capabilities.

The D3100 is equipped with Nikon’s new 14.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor, a new image processing system called EXSPEED2, and has a D-Movie function that is able to record Full HD movies instantly. As it weighs 450g, Nikon says that the D3100 is the lightest camera in its DSLR lineup.
In addition, the D3100 comes with Guide mode, which can show the effect of various camera settings before taking the shot. Other functions include Live View shooting, auto-scene selector, face detection (up to 35 faces), and Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) bus.
Nikon Australia’s Senior Marketing Manager, Nick Segger said, “Delivering full 1080p video capability with full autofocus, the D3100 is packed with a range of innovative features placing it well ahead of any other entry-level digital SLR on the market. The D3100 offers everything and more for first time DSLR users. It guarantees simple operability without compromising on performance.”
The Nikon D3100 will be available in-store from next month.
