Nine Network Fights ‘Fango’

SYDNEY – The Nine Network is set to throw down the gauntlet against rival Seven’s social TV application Fango as it unveils its own apps.

Nine is attempting to recover lost ground in the social TV market after Yahoo 7, Seven’s digital division, announced it had achieved 500,000 downloads of its app in just seven months, according to Australian IT.

Nine’s app, which will have features including a full TV guide that Fango does not offer, will initially be available only on tablet devices, the Oz says.

Ten and the ABC are both also expected to enter the social TV market in the next five weeks
