Nintendo Sued Over Wrist Straps

Nintendo faces a class action in the US over claims that its wrist strap is defective.

A global recall of the strap was ordered last week, however this move may not have come in time for the gaming giant.

A class-action suit has been filed against Nintendo by a Wii owner in Texas alleging that the company engaged in “unfair or deceptive practice” by claiming that the purpose of the strap was to prevent the controller from flying out of the hand during use.

According to the suit, the strap was not suited for its intended use, thus alleging a breach of warranty.

Problems occurred with the wrist strap soon after the console’s November launch. Reports surfaced f broken cords, which sent controllers flying and causing injury to people and other household items.

The class action has not been withdrawn, so clearly Nintendo’s global recall and replacement program will not stop the suit going ahead.
