Nintendo Video Channel For 3DS Out Today

UPDATED: Nintendo is opening a dedicated 3D content channel today for Nintendo 3DS handhelds in the form of the Nintendo Video service, though Nintendo Australia has no official date set for an Australian version.Nintendo is pushing its 3D-display gaming devices the same way 3D TV-makers are – by pushing for content. The Nintendo Video service will see an array of periodically released 2D and 3D shows up for download to 3DS devices.

The Nintendo Video application is set for release in Europe and Japan today, but no official word has been set for Australian availability. Australian 3DS owners can currently download 3D content in the form of sample videos and game trailers via the Nintendo eShop, while the Nintendo Video service allows users to access comedy videos, cartoons and music videos.

A hint has been thrown by Nintendo US though, which has confirmed the impending release of its own video service later on in the year, according to Joystiq.

Some of the content scheduled for release early on includes the Australian Disney production, Oscar’s Oasis.

Users can download Nintendo Video through SpotPass or through to Nintendo eShop.
