No Timeline For Google Chromecast OZ

Chromecast could be a while coming down under.Google have “no timeline” to release Chromecast down under, CN has been told.

The cheap TV dongle internet streams content like Google Play Music, Movies & TV, Youtube, and local content from a smartphone, tablet to a TV via HDMI cable.

“There is no timeline to announce for Chromecast in Australia at the moment,” a Google rep said this week.  This has killed off rumours a Chromecast release in Australia was imminent, with an RRP of $40.

Last week, Google announced Chromecast’s rollout to 11 new countries Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.K. Until now, it was only available in the US.
Google is adding apps like BBC iPlayer, France TV Pluzz, Netflix and Vevo to Chromecast’s content menu, meaning TV shows from Australian networks could be available on the Google dongle, if released locally.
