Nokia Competition For Undiscovered Musicians

Now on its fourth year, Nokia has once again launched Be Heard, a competition that aims to give Australian music artists a chance to jump start their music careers.

Nokia Be Heard is a national competition that any unsigned Australian music artist can enter. Six finalists will then be chosen by an expert judging panel and will be given invaluable music industry insights by high profile industry mentors.

Nokia’s Marketing Head, John McCredie said, “Australia’s music scene is brimming with undiscovered top rate acts and Nokia wants to give them a chance to boost their careers.”

This year’s line-up of judges includes: Kid Kenobi (DJ & Producer), Andrew Jackson (A&R Manager, Ministry of Sound), Alex Fletcher (Manager, MySpace), Dan Rule (Promoter & Owner, Annandale Hotel), Jess Beston (A&R Manager, Universal Music), Simon Wooldridge (Editor, Rolling Stone), and Sam Coombes (Marketing Manager, MTV).

Nokia says that each finalist also receives part of a Be Heard competition promotional and advertising package valued at $100,000 which includes a professionally produced video clip and exposure on MTV and online.

The Australian public then casts its vote and one winner takes home the $10,000 cash prize and gets to perform live with a headline act at the Take 40 Live Lounge in December.

Music artists interested in entering the competition should log on to the Nokia Be Heard website where they need to upload music clips, along with an image and artist information. Entries can be submitted from the 1st until 21st of October 2007.
