Nokia Windows 8 Tablet Expected Late 2012

A Nokia-Windows tablet featuring a Qualcomm dual-core processor is expected to be released in late 2012.

The tablet will be running Windows 8, presumably relying on navigation through its Metro interface and will span 10 inches.

According to a DigiTimes report, which cites “upstream component suppliers,” the first shipment will be 200,000 units strong.

The tablet could struggle to compete against more powerful Android and Apple offerings, just like their single core Window Phones struggle against current dual-core rivals. Asus’ Transformer Prime already features a Nvidia Quadcore Tegra 3 processor, with many new Android devices expected to follow suit.

Nokia has joined WoA (Windows on ARM) with the company hoping the new processor will run the famed Windows OS more efficiently.

Nokia has made it a habit of being late. Their belated adoption of touch screen technology, behind processors and their reluctance to abandon their ill-equipped Symbian operating system has seen the company’s market dominance weaken.
