Not All Japanese Products Will Fall In Price

Japanese consumer electronics manufacturers such as Panasonic, Sharp, Sony, Canon and Nikon are just a few of the big Japanese brands that could reap the benefits of a new trade deal struck with Japan last night however not all Japanese CE products will fall in price claims Former Panasonic CEO.

The deal that will see the price of consumer
electronics goods fall however it is not known whether these saving will be
passed on to retailers or absorbed by retailers and distributors of Japanese
products.

Tony Abbott completed the deal with
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last night. Abbott said that prices of
consumer electronic goods “will fall” in Australia while also
creating jobs for Australians.

The Prime Minister said the outcome on
trade was only one aspect of a deepening friendship with Japan.

Mr Abe said the agreement ?elevated the
bilateral ties to a new “special relationship”, a key phrase also used by Mr
Abbott in their bilateral meeting last night.

“The substantive agreement we have achieved
is historically significant in bringing our two countries closer together,” Mr
Abe said.

“This will be good for Australia, good for
Japan, good for the region and good for the world. “Tony Abbott said.

To get the deal over the line Australia has
given ground in return, cutting the price consumers pay for Japanese cars, auto
components, whitegoods and electronics, most of which will be free of tariffs
within a year of the trade deal being ratified.

Federal Trade Minister Andrew Robb who
negotiated with his Japanese counterparts, said that the scale of the agreement
goes well beyond initial expectations.

Mr Robb said the result was historic in
terms of Japan’s willingness to liberalise trade even though rice was excluded
from the talks.

Business leaders welcomed the deal last
night. Steve Rust the former CEO of Panasonic Australia said that there was a
lot of opportunity for Japanese Companies to grow their business in Australia.

He said not all Japanese products would
fall in price as many were manufactured outside of Japan.

He Said “Japanese products will be
better priced especially premium Japanese products that are made in Japan
however it is unknown what will happen with products made by a Japanese Company
but manufactured outside of Japan”.
