Nvidia Loses Patent Case

SAN FRANCISCO – Chipmaker Nvidia has failed in a bid to overturn a ruling against Samsung and Qualcomm that there was no violation of Nvidia’s patent rights for its graphics chips.The US International Trade Commission upheld a judge’s October ruling that cleared Samsung of claims that it had been using Nvidia inventions without permission.

Nvidia said it filed the patent-infringement complaint after two years of licensing talks failed. Samsung retaliated with its own patent claims, and a judge in that case is scheduled to release his findings on December.
